Perfect Forms

Past Perfect

• Two events that took place in the past, one before the other, not simultaneously.

• Form: had + past participle.

• Ex:

· When I got home, my husband had finished preparing dinner.

Present Perfect

• Used when the time is not finished or unknown.

• Form: have/has + past participle.

• Ex:

§ I have visited more than ten countries.

Future Perfect

· Something will be completed before a time in the future.

· Form: Subject + will + have + participle + objects.

· Ex:

§ Next year, we will have been married for 10 years.
